NAVAREA IX 410/26 cancels GFS Pride Cape Dao Ghana Prosperity cautions

NAVAREA IX 410-26 cancels the GFS Pride, Cape Dao and Ghana Prosperity cautions

The Hydrographer of Pakistan issued NAVAREA IX 410/26 at 271500 UTC on 27 October as a self-cancelling coordinator notice. The official text is one operational sentence: CANCEL NAVAREA IX 373/26, 403/26, 404/26 AND THIS MSG. That is the working primary. It is a cancellation product. It is not a new Attack PDF, not a salvage-complete finding, not a wreck-removal order, and not an International Maritime Organization board increment past 121.

The three cancelled instruments are the last NAVAREA cautions on three named security casualties. 373/26, issued 141045 UTC on 14 October, reported commercial vessel GFS Pride sunk with floating containers in 26-16.80N 056-08.60E, approximately four nautical miles northwest of Ras Shaykh Masud, and cancelled 371/26. 403/26, issued 240300 UTC on 24 October, reported oil tanker MV Cape Dao, earlier involved in a security incident on 23 September, sunk in 24-36.410N 057-13.215E, approximately 35 nautical miles east of Port of Suhar, and cancelled 380/26. 404/26, issued 240230 UTC on 24 October, reported oil tanker Ghana Prosperity involved in a security incident and anchored in 26-17.052N 056-33.35E, approximately 4.5 nautical miles south of Jazirat Musandam. Pakistan’s NAVAREA IX in-force table, as of Wednesday 28 October, still lists 410/26 itself as a self-cancelling message and no longer lists 373/26, 403/26 or 404/26. Masters who brief Wednesday as three recovered wrecks, as Ghana Prosperity under way, or as an IMO rewrite will have merged a one-line cancel into three casualty files.

What the warning actually printed

The hydrographic text is short. DTG 271500 UTC OCT 2026. NAVAREA IX 410/26. CANCEL NAVAREA IX 373/26, 403/26, 404/26 AND THIS MSG. That is the product. The coordinator printed neither a wreck buoy, a least depth, a salvage name, a pollution line, a crew revision, a Ghana Prosperity sailing report, nor an attacker. The notice does not say the wrecks have been surveyed. It does not say the wrecks have been removed. It does not say Ghana Prosperity has left 26-17.052N 056-33.35E. It withdraws three mariners-cautioned products from the in-force list and then withdraws itself.

Hold the three cancelled plots as last-known NAVAREA geometry, not as current in-force cautions. GFS Pride’s last NAVAREA plot remains 26-16.80N 056-08.60E on BA 3172 and Oman OM302 / OM509 / OM1219, dedicated on this desk as the 15 October Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore / Pride casualty file; the IMO highlighted-incidents board, as at 27 October, still prints GFS PRIDE, IMO 9349045, 13 October, Strait of Hormuz, sunk, no pollution. Cape Dao’s last NAVAREA plot remains 24-36.410N 057-13.215E on BA 2837 / 2851 / 3171 and Oman OM1216, dedicated on this desk as Saturday’s 403/26 wreck file; the IMO board, as at 27 October, now prints CAPE DAO, IMO 9219020, 23 September, 15 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, damaged, no pollution, one seafarer fatality, sunk — the “Sunk” wording is wrap on Saturday’s wreck notice and on Tuesday’s 121-count, not a second sinking. Ghana Prosperity’s last NAVAREA plot remains 26-17.052N 056-33.35E on BA 2888 / 3171 / 3172 / 3174 and Oman OM1219, dedicated on this desk as Saturday’s 404/26 anchorage file; the IMO board still prints GHANA PROSPERITY, IMO 9732541, 3 October, Strait of Hormuz, damaged, no pollution. 410/26 does not touch those board rows.

The NGA reprints did not all move with the NAVAREA. HYDROPAC 2981/26, 141052Z October, still printed M/V GFS Pride sank in 26-16.80N 056-08.60E and cancelled 2978/26; that Pride wreck reprint remained on NGA’s HYDROPAC in-force list as of 271740Z on 27 October, after 410/26 had already gone out. HYDROPAC 3096/26, which had reprinted Cape Dao sunk in 24-36.41N 057-13.22E and self-cancelled at 011736Z November, was cancelled at 271557Z by HYDROPAC 3122/26, a North Pacific gunnery product that also cancelled 3110/26 and 3119/26. That is NGA housekeeping, not a Cape Dao salvage note. Industry coastal reprints show HYDROPAC 3097/26, the Ghana Prosperity keep-clear reprint of 404/26, among the HYDROPAC messages withdrawn in the last 24 hours. Do not treat a Pacific gunnery cancel as a Sohar wreck survey. Do not treat a still-in-force Pride HYDROPAC as a NAVAREA IX contradiction that restores 373/26. Log both coordinators. The NAVAREA is withdrawn. The Pride HYDROPAC was not, at 271740Z.

What this is not

This is not a rewrite of the dedicated Pride, Cape Dao or Ghana Prosperity casualty files. 373/26 remains the 14 October Pride wreck-and-containers product; the 15 October dedicated piece remains the named-hull, crew-evacuated, floating-debris file. 403/26 remains Saturday’s first NAVAREA that printed REPORTED SUNK against the Sohar offset; the 24 September dedicated file remains the unknown-projectile, 27-evacuated, Suraj Yadav casualty piece. 404/26 remains Saturday’s first official NAVAREA on Ghana Prosperity at the Musandam offset; it was never a 24 October Attack PDF and it was never Warning 182-26. Tuesday’s cancel does not convert any of those three into recoveries.

This is not Warning 184-26. UKMTO still ends at 183-26, the 26 October Suspicious Activity fire 63 nautical miles southeast of Al-Faw. This is not Update 109. JMIC still ends at Update 108, ICOD 251300 UTC 25 October, Hormuz SEVERE, Arabian Gulf SUBSTANTIAL, Gulf of Oman MODERATE, 156 incidents since 1 March. This is not an IMO 122-count. The highlighted-incidents board is still 121 confirmed / 24 seafarer fatalities as at 27 October, with Leonora Kosan still the newest named row. 176-26, 182-26 and 183-26 are still unnamed on that board. 410/26 does not name them.

This is not a Hormuz or Sohar closure, and it is not a Musandam TSS all-clear. Pakistan’s in-force list on Wednesday still carries 389/26, the 20 October Gulf of Oman caution on an oil tanker involved in a security incident — the dedicated Petro Dolphin / two-missing Sohar file remains that hull unless flag or class revises it — and 352/26, a 4 October Strait of Hormuz oil-tanker security-incident caution. 411/26 and 412/26, issued at the same 271500 UTC clock as 410/26, are Central Gulf / Qatar pipeline-installation and 350-metre hose-tow products, not this cancel. Do not merge McDermott DB30 or AHTS Accomplish onto Pride, Cape Dao or Ghana Prosperity.

Operational implications

A coordinator cancel of three security cautions is a bridge-folder change before it is a wreck-removal story. Masters who have been carrying 373/26 as a floating-container wreck four nautical miles northwest of Ras Shaykh Masud, 403/26 as a named wreck 35 nautical miles east of Sohar, and 404/26 as a named VLCC-size hull 4.5 nautical miles south of Musandam now have to mark those three NAVAREA numbers cancelled. They do not have a surveyed least depth. They do not have a wreck buoy. They do not have a Ghana Prosperity AIS departure on this product. Night transits, restricted-visibility transits and any traffic that has been hugging the Omani coast to stay off the Iranian-controlled northern Hormuz route still have three last-known plots on BA 3172, BA 2837 / 2851 / 3171 and BA 2888 / 3171 / 3172 / 3174. The working instrument is that those plots are no longer in-force NAVAREA IX warnings. The working instrument is not that the water is clear.

Sohar, Fujairah, Khor Fakkan and the Strait of Hormuz are not reopened by this notice, because they were not closed by 373/26, 403/26 or 404/26. A cancel is not a port-open message. Do not brief a Musandam TSS restoration from a self-cancelling coordinator line. Do brief a passage-plan amendment: drop 373/26, 403/26 and 404/26 from the in-force NAVAREA pack, keep the three last-known positions as residual hazards until a later NAVAREA, a wreck buoy, a least-depth survey or a flag/class/salvage product says otherwise, and keep HYDROPAC 2981/26 in the Pride folder until NGA cancels it. After 410/26 self-cancels, the in-force list should be read again before anyone treats the cancel itself as a standing warning.

A pollution watch remains open because 410/26 is silent. The IMO board still prints no pollution against Pride, Cape Dao and Ghana Prosperity. Saturday’s 403/26 and 404/26 printed no hydrocarbon line. 373/26 printed floating containers, not a bunker volume. Tuesday’s cancel does not close those watches. Charterers and P&I will ask for 410/26, the three cancelled numbers, the still-open IMO rows, and the still-in-force Pride HYDROPAC. They will not be answered by Saturday’s wreck files alone. Flag, class and wreck-removal work remain with Antigua and Barbuda on Cape Dao, Liberia on Ghana Prosperity, and whoever holds the Pride DOC. None of those names is on 410/26.

JMIC Update 108 still holds Hormuz at SEVERE, the Arabian Gulf at SUBSTANTIAL and the Gulf of Oman at MODERATE. Replace 373/26, 403/26 and 404/26 in the master’s NAVAREA pack with 410/26, then drop 410/26 when it self-cancels. Do not replace Update 108. Do not replace Tuesday’s 121-count. Do not treat a three-product cancel as evidence that independent Hormuz transits have resumed or that the Fujairah density printed on Update 108 has cleared.

What Operators Should Note

  • Log a three-product cancel, not three recoveries. NAVAREA IX 410/26, 271500 UTC 27 October. CANCEL 373/26, 403/26, 404/26 AND THIS MSG. Pakistan’s Wednesday in-force table lists 410/26 as self-cancelling and no longer lists the three cautions. This is not Warning 184-26, not Update 109, not an IMO 122-count, and not a Hormuz all-clear.
  • Keep the last-known plots in the folder. GFS Pride 26-16.80N 056-08.60E, about four nautical miles northwest of Ras Shaykh Masud, dedicated 15 October MPA / Pride file, IMO 9349045 sunk, no pollution. Cape Dao 24-36.410N 057-13.215E, about 35 nautical miles east of Sohar, dedicated Saturday 403/26, IMO 9219020 now “Sunk” on the 27 October board. Ghana Prosperity 26-17.052N 056-33.35E, about 4.5 nautical miles south of Jazirat Musandam, dedicated Saturday 404/26, IMO 9732541 damaged, no pollution. 410/26 withdraws the cautions. It does not survey, buoy or remove them.
  • Hold both coordinators on Pride. HYDROPAC 2981/26 still printed GFS Pride sank in 26-16.80N 056-08.60E on NGA’s in-force list as of 271740Z 27 October. Cape Dao’s HYDROPAC 3096/26 was cancelled at 271557Z by 3122/26, a North Pacific gunnery product — housekeeping, not a salvage note. Ghana Prosperity’s HYDROPAC 3097/26 is among the withdrawn HYDROPAC reprints. Do not restore 373/26 from the Pride HYDROPAC. Do not drop the Pride plot until NGA cancels 2981/26 and a later NAVAREA or survey replaces it.
  • Do not rewrite the three dedicated casualty files. Pride remains the 13–14 October container-ship hit and sink. Cape Dao remains the 23 September Musandam casualty plus Saturday’s Sohar wreck. Ghana Prosperity remains the 3 October IMO damage row plus Saturday’s Musandam anchorage. Type discrepancy on Cape Dao — NAVAREA oil tanker versus Capesize bulk carrier on the dedicated file, IMO board and registers — is unchanged. Do not invent a cargo, a sailing, or a second attack from a cancel line.
  • Leave the live Gulf products where they are. 389/26 Petro Dolphin remains in force as a Gulf of Oman security-incident caution. 352/26 remains a Strait of Hormuz oil-tanker caution. 411/26 McDermott DB30 pipeline work and 412/26 AHTS Accomplish hose tow are same-clock Qatar products, not this cancel. UKMTO still ends at 183-26. Update 108 remains last numbered JMIC note. IMO remains 121 / 24 as at 27 October.
  • Sohar, Fujairah, Khor Fakkan and Hormuz are not closed and not reopened by this notice. Night and restricted-visibility transits on the Omani coastal track still carry three residual plots. Watch a later NAVAREA that marks a buoy, prints a least depth, names a salvage, or reprints Ghana Prosperity under way — not a completed wreck-removal and not a Hormuz reopen.

Regulas Shipping will keep lining Tuesday’s NAVAREA IX 410/26 cancel against the dedicated GFS Pride, Cape Dao and Ghana Prosperity files so operators can treat those three last-known plots as withdrawn cautions, not as surveyed wrecks, recovered hulls or an IMO rewrite.
